Very excited today. Here is my G&L ASAT (just ASAT, before there were classics, specials). I haven't taken the neck off yet to confirm the date but my hunch is it is 1987. Maple body, original MFD pickups. Saddle lock bridge, crinkle-finish metal pickguard. 7.5" radius. Leo-era. Excellent condition, too. IMG_3454.jpg IMG_3453.jpg IMG_3455.jpg The "real deal" some G&L fans would say.

Sweet! I love the old "crinkle" finish. I wonder when they stopped calling this model the "Broadcaster".

Wow, that is a killer guitar! Bet she sounds boss. Love that string retainer. Wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some of them.

    HNGD dude.

Nice example of the early ASAT. That crinkle finish was really cool. If I'm remembering correctly the name "ASAT Special" was first applied to ASATs with chrome hardware instead of the crinkle hardware - and those came out shortly before the ASAT Classic model came out.

From what I read Dale Hyatt came up with the Broadcaster idea to get some extra free publicity when Gretsch sent another cease and desist letter - they fully expected the cease and desist.

Congrats! These are absolutely great guitars. I got mine used and it's definitely on my "do not sell...ever" list.
