I ordered this from Eastman through Alto Music in MAY 2021 and it arrived today! I was seriously considering cancelling the order but every time I looked at a picture I thought, well, let me wait a bit longer. I ordered this guitar based only off of internet pics and reviews and that is not my normal practice, but in this case it was unavoidable / irrestistible.

Eastman Romeo LA! Phat Cats under "gold foil covers", 24.75 scale, neck is beefier than I expected, more like you'd get on an old Les Paul than something modern. Controls are V V Bridge Tone, which is weird - I get the logic but that's not generally how I would want to use controls, so it might need changing. It is officially a semihollow but it is only solid under the bridge and tailpiece, the rest is hollow. Weighs under 7lb for sure. Balances nicely on a strap and is very comfortable sitting (for a hollowbody).

I love it! I love almost everything about it. In person, even my wife commented on what a looker it was. The fretboard is shifted rightwards a bit, I would say the ergonomics are probably closer to a really light Les Paul than anything I am used to playing. The Goldo vibrato bar is really great! Like, really great! Very similar to a Bigsby of course, it seems to play great and stay in tune quite well right out of the box.

Congrats! I really like these Eastmans. Had a chance to dink around on the hum bucker version of the Romeo (unplugged) and I really liked it. Glad to hear you rave about the trem. The one I tried didn't have it and I've wondered how good it might be.

Yeah, I have missed having a Bisgby much more than I thought I would. So far this is easily equal to a Bigsby - lighter feel perhaps and maybe a bit more travel but the same idea. And the tailpiece swaps out to a standard stop bar with no mods apparently, not that I intend to do that.

I'd be interested to play the humbucker Romeo but I'm more interested in playing this one right now.

That's beautiful. I wish I could get my hands on some Eastman guitars to check them out. I keep seeing guitars by them that look really impressive. I do like that a lot of their neck have a 1.75" nut width.

The 330 copy from them that I also own (T64/v) has a 1.75 and a "medium" neck, as opposed to the unplayable necks on most Casinos (for me). I thought 1 34 would be too wide for an electric guitar as opposed to an acoustic but it's great.

This one has 1 23/32 and more meat to it than a typical new guitar. I really like it (I like a fat but not obese neck). It feels like this guitar was made custom for me, it's so weird. But one of my favorite things about it is that is truly a new design. Obviously it draws a lot on Gibson influences, and nothing on it is really innovative, exctly, but it is not a copy of anything for once.

Woah. That is stunning. I dig the bridge only tone pot too. I don't think I've ever wanted to roll back the tone on a neck pickup (unless it had a 1 meg pot, like a Jag or Jazzmaster), but I almost always roll the bridge tone back just a hair.

Holy freakin’ moley that is beautiful. Personally, I would work with the existing controls for as long as possible to see if I could come to terms with them. Because I would hate to change anything (even invisibly) about that guitar.

I am not going to rush to change anything, believe me! I will give the electronics at least six months and a few gigs before I make any changes. Even if I change the pickups (I might decide I want TV Jones filtertrons) I will probably try and find a way to put the new pickups under the cool covers. But I will give these a chance!
