Late 70s Cort explorer.. Solid Body, binding everywhere except the back edge of the body, low action and a sweet player...

Never cared for pointy guitars, explorers, flying Vs, ETC.. But this one and I instantly bonded.. Gonna clean it up and give her some new strings and a fret polish this week...

I'm really digging those three dot inlays for some reason. They aren't overly fancy but they are just unusual enough to catch my eye. Nice guitar man

That's a cool guitar but the overall style to me says more early to mid eighties than Late seventies here.

I started a thread a while ago about Sears guitars during the eighties and they offered these kind of Explorers with and without built in effects from 1985.

So not to rain on your parade but from what I found, it suggests that your guitar is quite a bit younger than you think.

I found the BLOG that white one above was posted in and emailed the guy to see if he knew anything about that one. The blog was just entitled "vintage cort". What the heck are all those things below the control knobs on the red one?

All I know is it plays great and the bridge pickup is awesome... The neck I am not sure I like yet.. I have some to switch it out with... late 70's early 80's, either way it is a cool guitar somewhere in the 30 year old range...

That's a great looking guitar. I bet that would scream with Classic '57s in them.

It's plywood. (I'm only "raining on your parade" because that was supposed to be my first guitar in 1984 and I'm still pissed at my Dad for not letting me get it.)
Those are really nice, especially if you get the non-tremolo kind. Lots of them had goofy fake Kahlers that didn't work very well, and were stupid heavy. THe hardtail ones are much nicer and sound better, too.

That array of knobs on the red one are for its built in effects but they were prone to malfunction as such when you encounter one they most often have the effects bypassed.

These Corts style-wise were based on the Hamer Blitz model which is evident when you look at them.

And it's that eighties metal axe look that I was going for when I made my "Big red"

Which has been my main stage guitar for four years.

The bridge pup is metal at it's best.. Evil sounding is the best way I know to describe it....

Question about the pups.. I haven't removed them yet for inspection.. The strings are brand new and I hate to waste them and I don't put back on strings once I take a set off..

The pickup wires coming into the control cavity are metal mesh over cloth wire...

The guy who traded it to me claimed it had older gibson pups.. I don't know that for sure.. You know how that goes, but that type wire suggest old pups to me.. Could they be originals or Gibsons.. I will probably have to just pull them to find out right..lol

after a good cleaning. I replaced the broken white mounting ring with a black one I has laying around... Also practicing getting better pictures..

As long as it plays like you want and sounds like you want, it's good. Cool guitar, the binding and the color make it for me. It looks sharp.
