I recently had some money burning a hole in my pocket and ordered a 68 princeton custom, then the day before it arrived i traded for a 68 custom deluxe. I liked the deluxe more so i sent the princeton back and decided to indulge my love for hot rods and rockabilly/psychobilly. Hot off the line here is my new g5410t "rat rod" I feel like i need to find a pin stripe guy and learn to bang out some reverend horton heat

Oh, that's cool. What color is it? It looks like charcoal or gunmetal.

Flat black. I wasnt sure about the red tops on the pickups but in person its a cool if not a little cheesy effect. Gretsch says it was supposed to be like tail lights.

First "mod" done. Took off the pickguard as the two different reds were kind of clashing imo. Learning about gretschs and bigsbys trying to see what I may want to do to it. You know the old saying "if it aint broke, fix it till it is"

    Congrats!

I’m a Gretsch person, but no I haven’t used the grease since I was in my teens. If I did I’m not a Dapper Dan man, I’m strictly Tres Flores, ese.

I have the white Rat Rod, and I threw some Dynasonic types in it, and have a brass DBridge and Brass nut...So as the saying goes...get a Truarc/Compton/DBridge and call it a day :)

Thanks man. I keep seeing that the bridge is usually the first thing guys do. Im going to seriously look into that. The tuning seems to be a bit :ahem: wonky. Guess i need to mess with the nut some. Also debating if i will run my usual ernie ball 10s on it or flatwound 12s. The little strings on it now are no bueno.

Rat rods will often have red steel wheels or painted engine parts, too. It looks cool!
