Well, after a couple of frustrating weeks hunting for a good used CVC Tele here in the UK, I decided to bite the bullet and put some faith in the new lineup and my new CVC arrived on Friday.

I have to say, I was a little worried after placing the order. Will it be as good as the MIC? Has the quality went south to save a few $'s? Tonerider vs Fender designed, it all went through my head, but I'm really happy to report that, for me at least, my fears were unfounded. This is still one of the best bang for buck guitars out there and I'd encourage anyone who has doubts, to go out and play one of these (Covid-19 permitting of course), you will not be disappointed.

Are there any negatives? Yeah, if I was to nitpick, the Indian Laurel fretboard ain't pretty! But I've read a few posts on here and watched some videos on how to darken it up, so will report back once I get to it to show the difference. My only other small gripe is the neck profile, it is slimmer than the BSB and it may just take me a little while to get used to it.

Anyways, enough rambling, here she is:

Thanks, the grain is lovely, just wish the fretboard in general was a little closer in colour to rosewood. I've heard Fender Fretboard Remedy works a treat on it and darken it up a little, so will get some on later this week and see how it goes.

Noooooooooooooooooooo! Darken it up with some oil from your fingers and hands man. Just sayin'. Be happy with that for a while and see what happens. JMHO Play on.

Welcome to the forums, and that is a beauty! Classic sunburst look - love it. Re the fb, I’d leave it alone for awhile. Looks great to me, and as someone else said, just play it in for a bit. Congrats on your new purchase and enjoy!

Gratulations! My other post elsewhere recommends the Fender remedy, it's good stuff, made from lemon oil and beeswax. Worked a treat on mine. But, yes playing it in will also help darken the board further....enjoy!!!

Beautiful guitar. Congrats. I got to check the spec's on the neck. The more I look at it, the more I want:lol::lol:

Nice one... Hope the stores reopen soon here, so I can see if I can find one of those new CV 50s or 60s to compare them to their Chinese predecessors... (which were very good).

I'm still getting used to the indian laurel myself (on my Bullet tele and an HH Affinity), but I'll grow into it eventually.

I like using butcher block conditioner, it cannot be bad (you can eat of it too) , it will darken a little and I like it a lot more that putting oils on a board, I use it about once a year

Says it repairs cracks and will keep it hydrated

Just an alternative if the O.P is thinking about it
