    She's a big, blonde bombshell.

Perhaps you guys might remember that I posted this picture of me trying out guitars in an Amsterdam shop called "De Plug"
    Play it safe.jpg
I played four J-200's including a 'Chibson' and two Lawsuit era Ibanez "Concord" models but Emily sounded the best out of all of them, so last weekend I called up that shop to inquire if they still had Emily, after getting an affirmative reply, I made a deal on trading in two surplus guitars and add 150 Euros.

After getting Emily home, I cleaned her up (She had been in that shop for over a decade and was caked in grime and the fingerboard was as dry as a bone) a new set of strings did the rest, I can't stop playing Emily, she sounds so sweet.

As for why "Emily" well the first person that comes to my mind when seeing a Jumbo is Emmy Lou Harris.

    Nice guitar.

I’ve got the sunburst version, but mines the older Korean one with the laminate top. The pickguard pattern wore off mine like yours has so I found a place in the UK that does nice replacements. I also put a Fishman under saddle pickup with an end pin preamp, strangely though I’ve never gigged it as I never got round to buying a case.

    Cool!

    I’ve always had a thing for J-200’s

I knew it was just a matter of time after your initial thread that she would be yours

Nice Guitar. Also love the picture of the guitar shop. Reminds of the good old days when there were lots of shops like this. Most are gone now.

There was a gig bag included in the sale. I just looked mine up, it's a 2004-2006 model EJ-300 which was their fanciest model with all solid woods.

    Or "Noel" for that matter.

I was just drooling over those yesterday on line!
Glad you called her Emmy and not Little Jimmy!

I had one in a nice burst. I never should have parted with it. It had the nicest natural EQ of any acoustic I've owned, so far. It was real nice looking, too.

I had this monster for a couple years. Huge neck, like the things they roll carpets up on. But for its size, it had surprisingly little low end, almost like a Taylor. It should have gone BOOM on an E chord, instead it went WHIZZZzzzzzz. Didn't keep it. I really needed the rosewood version I guess.

Yup, that's also why those Ibanez Concord J-200 copies the shop had failed to meet parameters, they missed that "OOMPH"
They were technically the more interesting instruments but they lacked the MOJO and it was down to the maple body.

I had the same guitar 2004 model and just sold it in my downsizing.
It was a player guitar and sounded good but my old '98 EJ200 sounded better to my ears so I let the AJ go.

Very nice. I tried both these and the hummingbird and the hummingbird won for, the J200 is a big guitar!

    Jumbos rule!

I’ve had a Guild JF30, JF65, and two 70s MIJ Alvarez J200 copies. If I’m being 100% honest, one of the Alvarez sounded best.

    Enjoy your jumbo.
