Purple Grote is either a dirty word, a punk/thrash metal band, or a dirt cheap Tele-copy

Looks like this time it's a Tele copy! And by dirt cheap, currently $89.99 on Amazon. So what does that get you?

Solid body, thinline-style guard and controls, foto-flame top, and a 6 saddle import-style bridge. At least it's string-through. Black back, nothing amazing.

Out of the box, decent playable setup, although one of the saddle height adjustment screws was loose and buzzed. Super easy fix, teeny turn of the screw until it's snug. Pickups are okay, nothing special, but it sounds like a Tele. Nut needs cleaning up and a little lube of your choice. Fret work is good, no sharp edges, but maybe a bit too aggressively beveled.

I also have a Grote Thinline I bought a while back, and this one is much better out of the box. Neck feels better, and the big thing is the foto-flame on this one kind of looks like real wood, where the thinline was laughably bad.

The solidbody also came with allen wrenches, a cable, two picks, cheap strap, and a very cheap gig bag. I would say good for the price, seems to be a bit better quality than the Glarry's I've seen.

A little lube on the nut of your purple grote.

    Clean living.

If I wasn't so forum inept I'd post a picture of my purple grote as well! It's crazy how good mine feels compared to a few epiphone 335s I've tried. Hangs right with them once I replaced the garbage pickups in it. These are actually great budget guitars

I've been tempted to buy that same thinline Tele just because the purple fotoflame finish looks so nice, but I didn't know that there was also a solidbody
