Just bought a Les Paul! Wait for this mouthful: Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Pro. The color is a gorgeous Mojave Fade. So far I really like this guitar.

The good: I really like the pickups. The split coil sounds are surprisingly good. The neck feels great, especially the shape of the back of the neck. So far it stays in tune pretty well.

The bad: I had to raise the action a little bit as it buzzed at multiple frets across the board. I'll get around to checking out the truss rod here soon as I think that it might need some relief as most of the buzzing was around the middle of the fretboard. That was the only bad associated with this guitar, so if that helps then I am VERY happy with this purchase.

Feast your eyes on this great looking guitar (pay no attention to that lazy cat up there):

The cat is not lazy. The cat is busy judging us. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. Oh, very nice guitar, too! Enjoy!

Nice looking guitar, congrats! Set ups and rod adjustments are par for the course with any guitar that I ever bought...

Not “ol’ “ but definitely lazy. And the name of your guitar outdoes the one I used to have:

Epiphone ‘56 Les Paul Goldtop In Black.

Epiphone has a lot of cool new models and colors, and Gibson has LPs and SGs in Fender type custom colors. I dig it!

It is a mouthful, but I've enjoyed my Epiphone Les Paul Plus Top Pro for a few years now, I got a blem at my local brick and mortar for a great price new. You have to look hard to see the small bump next to the pickup toggle, it's a nice cherry burst. I thought I had a photo on here, gotta look later.

    That really is beautiful.
Are you sure the coils tap?
I played one with series/parallel switching that had some really great sounds.

Yup, positive it taps. I get single coil-esque sounds when I pull the respective volume knobs up.
