Fresh meat for the muchxs Morpheus. Love the P90s thick, creamy growl.

What to do first? Ditch the pink pick guard and pup covers? Give it a badly needed set up? Or turn it up and peel the paint off the walls?
    Right. Brace yerself.

I usually take the pickguard off of my Les Paul guitars. Not sure if it's necessary to change the pickup covers, but if you like black better then that's doable. What year is it? I have a 93 Studio with ebony fingerboard & a 97 "Ruby" from the Studio Gem series which both have P90 pickups. A Les Paul with a maple top, tuneamatic bridge & P90s is a magical combination.

I wouldn't worry about any of it until you get the the speaker broken in. Until then Congrats!

Oh that speaker is definitely broken in - the amp isn't new - and the speaker wasn't new to begin with.

Ha - I have been in love with the neck pickup. Just a very different tone from my other guitars - not that there are that many.

First Gibson I have had since college so I am lost when it comes to upgrades. And it needs a setup badly - the strings are an inch above the frets. Haven't done one on a LP - so that will be the first research.

A poster on one of the Gibson forums had put on a black guard and that looked sharp. Couple folks also did a faux binding by scraping and staining. Looked awesome on the black. Also much discussion of top wrapping the strings. And tail piece changes - and pots - and knobs.

Crazy. Like me. I have to check the year. I bought it from a guy in the Coast Guard - really nice dude. He bought it as a present to himself after grad school - so it's got to be at least a few years old.

Best thing - no mini tuners.

I have that LP Studio 60's Tribute and it is very handsome in its tux. I love both pickups, they sound strat-like to my ears.

My wife doesn't like the pink tint in the plastic.
Wonder if I can bleach it or something.

I'm a sucker for cream pickup covers but if they have to go, they have to go. BUT the first thing you need to do is give the old girl a decent setup NOW!

You ever thought about a Bigsby? Maybe go all Neil Young on the girl

Oh I have thought of Neil plenty.
I'd love if the plastic was cream but Gibson tinted it pink.

White or a slight Ivory, rather then cream covers and guard would look real good on that guitar. Maybe a W/B/W guard would add some class.

    I love P-90 Gibby's.

Awesome guitar, man! After enjoying my ES-339 P90 so much, I've been scheming on a Les Paul with P90s myself. Selling some stuff first!

Very nice! I recently bought a stripped 50's classic 2-P90 body that is currently at my tech's having a middle pup rout installed. Then it will get three of Lindy Fralin's humless P90s and a Brent Mason Nashville tele-style wiring job so that I can blend the middle pup in as needed. I'll post more when its done!

My wife was not buying the aged cream concept
It's getting buffed, all black plastic, and binding.
