Picked this up today at L&M. First LP (had an Agile once). Loving this guitar! I'm typically a Fender guy but you gotta have an LP right?

I tried the faded Studio, the Traditional, regular Studio and the Tribute. L&M also had these interesting "exclusive" to them Classics with 4 knobs and zebras. The call it a Classic Plain Top. Anyway it was priced right about where I wanted to be, and has a bit of fanciness beyond the Studios.

Sounds great and feels great. Could do with a slight height adjust but otherwise awesome!!

I've got a similar Gibson with open humbuckers and considering putting on covers, are you thinking about doing that?

So the Classic neck felt better than the Traditional?

I'm also looking to buy a Les Paul but either the Traditional or Standard (older necks) with the 59 pickups. Honey Burst is the color I want but the desert burst is cool too. I want it to have flame.

Nice looking gold top, I like the non covered pickups, looks really cool like that.

Your first mod should be removing the plastic pick guard. Such a nice looking top and Gibson puts $2 plastic over it.

Gibson Month purchase? I saw some pretty snazzy deals at my local L&M... but I'm still riding the high of owning a Ric... GAS is temporarily in remission... at least when it comes to guitars.

Nice score! I think LP goldtops are among the prettiest guitars ever made!

    Nice guitar!

I fancy a gold top but I'd also have to have a plain top faded honeyburst as well - just for completeness of the collection you understand...........!

Personally, I prefer the tone of humbuckers with covers as the covers seem to add something (not sure what but I hear it!) to the tone - and they look unfinished without covers - to my eyes anyway!

And +1 on getting rid of the pick guard. Show off that nice top!

    I got a '50s Tribute a little while ago.
Being I'm a little shallow, I buffed the top, headstock and sanded and buffed the back of the neck until no grain could be seen and it shines.
Then I did the "faux binding" thing.
Now it looks like a real Lester.
All that cosmetic stuff aside...it's got P90s, a slightly chunky neck, wide nut and it's chambered and probably weighs under 8#.
    It's a total killer.
    Great deal. DSCN4160.JPG
