I was thinking of getting either a Firebird or some kind of Gretsch. I got confused and went right down the middle. 
Functionally, it's everything I was looking for - bright hum-cancelling pickups, an enormous neck, super light weight, unique sounds via the slider switches (phase, coil split, and cocked wah), and it was already built so no waiting time. And oh my does it look cool - the gold sparkle binding enhances the tone and playability 300%.
