I recently took delivery of my second K-Line Truxton - my first one was bought from a dealer and this one was custom-ordered directly from Chris. If you’re curious to know more about my first one, you can checkout my NGD thread here: https://www.tdpri.com/threads/ngd-k-line-truxton-in-tahoe-green.1129018/

Initially I contacted Chris in late December 2022, we exchanged a few emails, and I quickly decided to pull the trigger and place a deposit. Chris was happy to intake the details of my order either on the phone or through email. I decided to give him a call and we had a great conversation - Chris is so knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about his craft. There were a few details which I was very certain about (mostly neck oriented) and a few details where I was open to Chris’ recommendations (like body wood, for example). I believe Chris mentioned that my guitar would likely be ready in late July or early August 2023. Fast forward to early May and I received an email from Chris with a picture of my completed guitar!

I’ve had my new Truxton for about a week now and I’m over the moon. I’m absolutely thrilled with what Chris has created. Every facet of this guitar has exceeded my expectations. The neck - a .900” U-shape - is exactly what I hoped it would be. A bit thinner than my recently acquired Fender CS Tele (https://www.tdpri.com/threads/ngd-my-first-fender-custom-shop-1955-telecaster.1127512/) which is quite beefy (.940” at the 1st and .970” at the 12th). Chris’ attention to detail is evident in terms of how perfect the neck on this guitar is.

The neck P-90 is a real treat and something that I’ve always wanted in a T-style guitar. Chris’ pickups sound absolutely fantastic. I am very impressed with the sounds of my Tahoe Green Truxton and am even more impressed with the sounds of this one. There is something about the middle position - which I typically don’t use very often - which is just so inspiring. The bridge pickup helps to add some articulation and sharpness which blends perfectly with the more dominant roundness and girth of the P-90. And I’ve always been a sucker for a P-90 in the neck position of any guitar, so it’s awesome to have that in a Tele-shaped guitar. And, of course, if I ever wanted to install a traditional Tele neck pickup, that could be easily accomplished (I don’t see myself ever doing it though, haha).

All in all, I am really impressed with the quality of this instrument - it sounds wonderful and it feels great! Thank You Chris!

That neck looks really sharp, wow.

And it looks like his bridge is cast instead of stamped?

All his "upgrades" over what a vintage Tele comes with are perfectly understated.

If you're at all interested...

I cobbled together some parts to make a '63-ish looking Tele with a neck P-90. I added a 4 way switch and a no-load tone pot - both highly recommended for the P-90.

I would assume that your P-90 is RWRP for hum cancelling? If not, it may not be that hard to do.

Enjoy the P-90, such a unique sound!

Looks great! Congratulations
How does the P90 balance with the bridge pickup?

To my ear, the stock K-Line pickups balance beautifully! I really appreciate the middle position on this guitar - it retains the heft of the P-90 but with the cut of the bridge. The middle position really combines the best half of each pickup.

Beautiful guitars. I've never been able to get a neck p90 and tele bridge pickup to balance.

They look incredible, but they seem to be a bit pricy in my opinion. I would have to think twice before buying one. If you are sold on their products then by all means, everyone should feel confident in their gear. Boutique builds and products are definitely in the hands and minds of their beholders.
