    I think that generally, mid-song, we’re reaching more for the vol and tone than switch.

    It seems weird because we grew up the other way, but it makes total sense.

    For some players, that may very well be true.

    Myself (and I no longer perform), I usually play with Vol at “10”, but I make changes to the pickup selector switch and to the TONE knob all the time. And because I don’t perform, it’s not terribly important as to where the selector switch is located, as I have the time and ability to work with the selector switch - wherever it may be.

    I still prefer the selector switch on a Tele to be toward the neck, rather than toward the tail end of the guitar.

    On occasion, I may bump the selectors my other teles. On a Strat, I always bump the selector.
