I've been on a 335 kick for the past 2-3 years, and I thought this was a 335-copy when I responded to the Marketplace ad. When I saw it in person, it was a bit smaller and lighter than my other 335 copies. I guess it's the Ibanez take on a 339, an AM73B-TF. I replaced the pickups with a set of Guitar Madness overwound '57 Alnico II's, simply for cosmetic reasons (the stock pickups were exposed black), installed different knobs and a switch tip. It's not a flashy guitar by any means, it looks like it was made from somebody's coffee table. Normally a flat finish makes me uneasy because they eventually become shiny in spots, but I think that's more of an issue on solid color guitars like black where it would be totally obvious.
For all those who like to discuss tone and what causes it, this is the same pickup set that I put in all my guitars and this guitar is noticeably darker and punchier in the low-mids than my Ibanez 335 copy, an AS-73.
I was so excited to play this guitar when I got it home that I strung it wrong like an idiot - the E and B strings are in each other's places.
Workmanship and playability is typical for an Ibanez - pretty decent. This is a tiny bit neck-heavy (or more correctly, body-light), but not so much that the headstock dives toward the floor. Plus, I'm a bit small in stature and this looks cooler on me than the 335-sized guitars. And coolness is a lot more important than many people think!
