Got this Indio Les Paul DLX66 in at trade for an old arbor explorer that needed tons of work. I haven't touched an LP since my freshman year of high school so it's definitely different to my teles on playability and tone. Not a fan of the pickups so I'll be looking for something lower wound. Any suggestions? Pictures will be up soon!

Not even sure what the color is, to me it looks green mixed with grey.

Looks nice! The tele clone in my pic is a Monoprice Retro Vision (the version prior to the Indio line) and I absolutely love playing it...sounds awesome with the stock pups and really well-built. Plus, it looks really good (to me).

Ha! No, I'm a living room player just learning (and hooked on) electric...but perhaps soon I'll try out the recording feature on my shiny new Super Champ x2 I'm enamored with and compare it to strat/LP...and thanks!

I'm thinking of replacing the little blue M decal on the headstock with just the purple Prince silhouette (cutting it will be tough) or the...other...sticker. ANy thoughts? Should I start a thread?

    What's the weight on it?

As for pickups, I recommend Guitar Madness (eBay seller). I have their several of their humbuckers and I've liked them all. For your guitar, I'd recommend a set of their Alnico II Classics. I put a set of them in my Epiphone SG Special to replace the ridiculously hot stock HBs.

Where should I start it? 'Other Guitars...' or 'Other T-Types?'

I bought some of those same Alnico II pickups for my Les Paul knockoff. They sound great to me. I like them even more after doing the hair dryer mod to them. I want to buy the GM strat pickups next.

Unsure of the weight but feels lighter than my rosewood tele. I would guess around 8 pounds? It has a solid top and and actual quilted maple. The tuners I thought would be cheap kluson clones but they actually hold tune! No sharp fret edges and once it was strung up, minimal fret buzz without a proper set up.

I will check out those pickups! Are there any sound clips available?

I'd use the Jesus Quintana sticker instead. ;)

I don't have anything recorded yet using them, just their version of a P94. Maybe I'll record something soon.

I don't have any clips that I've done, but there's a guy that has one on YouTube. It's under "whips cheap guitar" or something like that. Same pickup in an Epi LP.

I had an old Ibanez that had super 70s in it that were borderline microphonic. I really love that sound in an PAF HB. I think a TDPRIer on here (Charlie-Chitlin) mentioned that he put a hairdryer on a HB for an hour and dripped most of the wax potting out of a pickup to achieve this kinda tone. I liked this Guitar Madness HB fine at first, but after I melted some of the wax out of them with a hairdryer I dig them a whole lot more. It's like a throaty-pick clacking against the string thing. Like Tony Iommi or the first Kiss record/Ace solo record vibe.
