I've been looking for a guitar with a piezo pickup that would do double duty as an electric and an acoustic for my travel gigs. After reading Edsel Presley's review here and checking some demo videos, I went looking on the 'Verb for a Dean Colt. I found one about two weeks ago for what was the best price on Reverb, $375 with a gig bag.

I checked my watch list last night and saw that great price got even better - the seller knocked another $100 off. So I just pulled the trigger.

I've always wanted a 175-style body, so I'm looking forward to getting this one.

Congrats. I have a guitar with a hidden piezo. It does not sound acoustic electric. But sounds unique in it own unique way. Enjoy.;)

In the demos I saw of this one the piezo sounded pretty bright. I'm hoping maybe a little discreet use of EQ will move it closer to sounding like an acoustic.

It will sound a little bit different but close enough. The National, Supro, 1950's Montgomery Wards guitar sound.

Annnd...I got an email from Reverb saying my money has been refunded. The guy apparently sold the guitar off of Reverb.

Ah, well. Easy come, easy go.

    Nice axe. Keep looking.

I have the Dean Palomino surf green, 3-PU...love it. Plays like a dream.

Wife loves it too. Poor upper fret access, but I deal with it.

Yeah, I got the fever now. :)

Might be time to list that Lead I and go for one of the regularly-priced models...

I only saw this thread after I bought this guitar on eBay.
I'd been on the hunt for a smaller semi-hollowbody after having an Epiphone Blueshawk sniped out from me at the last second and the Dean Colt popped up in my search.

If you asked me 2 weeks ago about Dean guitars I would've pegged them as Metal guitars with weird, pointy shapes, but further searching showed they make more conventional guitars too. I watched a lot of videos, read reviews and it seemed like the Dean Colt ticked a lot of boxes for me, so I searched around some more and saw a black one on eBay and turned out to be the only bidder.

I just picked it up 1/2 hour ago and took a quick pic, shiny black guitars are not the easiest subjects for photos.

Hope you find a nice one, StrangerNY! The newer models have some very pretty flame-tops and Blondes.

Really nice guitar, but it plays a little stiff for me. I'll need to play around with it to get it into my comfort zone, but it's off to a nice start.

That looks pretty nice. But truth be told, I really dig the ES-175 body style, so that helped steer my decision.
