Assembled a new guitar. Apartment living doesn’t lend itself to building and finishing like when I was in a duplex, so assembling it is.

HH quilted maple body with binding and tinted neck from GFS. Pearly Gates pickups from dragon fire. 3 way glad switch with 2 push pull pots. Gives me series or parallel and out of phase. Kluson split tuners and all gold hardware with a cup jack. Cloth wiring and sprague cap.

First, a group shot of the last 2 builds.

Beautiful! What's the body wood? Looks a little like koa. How do the pearly gates sound split?

Pauwlonia, it’s not too light, not too heavy. They aren’t actually split, they are wires series/parallel and out of phase.

I think it sounds great. It’s a classic PG pickups sound without the over bassy LP sound, but still ballsy.

i had a strat with two pearly gates humbuckers in it. i think it was the big apple strat. anyway, it was so cheap at GC i had to buy it. i was surprised how stratty the pickups sounded when split. i have never heard a humbucker i liked the split single coil sound of before. most of them sound like single coil gibson melody maker pickups, which have no body/color/tone whatsoever to my ears
