So Monday I got two really great things. First was this little guy:

While at the hospital waiting for my wife's c-section (little Henry was breech; he and mom are both great!), I get an email from Thomann saying that my package is out for delivery! Deep down I had a feeling the baby and the guitar were both going to come the same day. Anyway, after Henry makes his arrival I convince my mom to go by the post office to pick up my guitar for me. Later that evening I go by my house to walk our dog and see my guitar!

She's beautiful! I'm a big Prince fan, which is why I ordered the guitar, so I had been online scoping out places to get the leopard pickguard like the one he used. To my surprise, there was one in the box under the guitar! I slid it under the strings to see what it'd look like:

I took her to the shop to get set up and to get that pickguard put on. I'll have her back tomorrow before my gig, where I will plug her in for the first time. I hope she sounds good, cause I ain't even trying her out beforehand. Trial by fire, and all that. I'll try to get some video at the gig and post it here so we can see how she sounds!

So yeah, new baby and new guitar, all on the same day! The day before Prince's birthday, might I add.

    Congrats dad!

I own a TE too. Love the look, feel, etc. Some noiseless Wilde pickups ended up in mine.

Did they give you the same color jack plate as the pickguard?

    Looking forward to gig footage!

The jack plate is just silver, I think. I honestly don't remember. I didn't get to spend a whole lot of time with it. I'm going to pick it up it today before my gig.

Played a gig with her tonight! She sounds AMAZING, but the action is still awful! I was hoping to play her all night, but I had to go back to the ol' American Standard Tele for most of the night. I'll hopefully have some video pretty soon.

Looks great! Mine came set up with pretty good action but my tech was able to get it lower.

    Congrats on the babby!

Here's a crappy video from the gig Friday night. Keep in mind, this is before I adjusted the action. I'm already a very mediocre player, but I was even mediocre-er that night.

Nice job. I wish I was that mediocre-er.

    Thanks! Just don't practice...that's what I do!

But seriously, I've practiced more since Merle Haggard and Prince died than I have the last five years combined. We lost two of the greatest artists in music history so someone has to carry on the tradition of artistry. I know it won't be me, but hopefully I'll inspire someone to pick up a guitar and be the next Prince!

I'm only about a minute in but doesnt sound bad to me and I'm a judgemental picky *******.

I used my TE-80-NT at a gig this weekend, I'll have to see if I have any videos worth posting.

Thanks, man! I think the guitar sounds great. The first time I plugged it in was at this gig, so I haven't had time to do any fine tuning with the amp setting for it. I'm gonna have to adjust the pickup height to my liking; the neck pickup is too low for me. I like it to be a little louder than normal, since neck pickups usually don't cut through like bridge pickups do.

All that said, though, I think this is a killer axe. It gives me a different tone from my American Standard Tele, but still has that beautiful Tele silhouette that I love.

Yeah it amazes me that these MadCat style guitars sound like both a Strat and a Tele, but neither.

Y'all are too kind, saying that you wish you were as mediocre as I am! Truth is, I'm a one trick pony. My trick is playing in a major scale, ballad-type style. Thankfully, we play a few of those, so I can pass for an actual guitar player for most of the night.
