Epi had made a Lefty Les Paul Special II - I bought 2 of them for projects, 2nd hand like new, and for peanuts :

One in Daphne Blue and GFS P-90, the other in Seafoam Green and Gretsch HS FT, Both with roller bridge and Bigsby B5LH...

    But it's not for tomorrow ! o_O

I looked to the LH Gibson LP junior tribute - and the possible mods to make it a Junior-Special-Bigsby, but for the price, I'm better with my 2 epi projects.

    I want one!
After you've played it a little, you'll need to relic it, so it's just like Johnny's.
Try driving a crane over it. That works for Gibson.

I have the Agile unicorn version. It is a TANK.

A heads up... there's a brand Firefly that were doing these & Specials for $130 delivered. They had issues with bridge placement but if they get that resolved it looks like a bargain to mod. Some just ordered a badass type bridge & called it a day.

I have been waiting a long time for Epi to come back with one. This might be the way to go. I'll be very interested in your review.

Haaa, this is the video that always give me GAS for a P90, especially in a TV yellow DC Junior. Dang, it's coming back to me.

Well I got the guitar today!

    Here’s how it came.

    Inside the box

So, tuned up right out of the box it was set up pretty good. Neck relief was perfect for 10s, intonation was pretty close too. Even the strings didn’t sound too junky. Action was medium, which is how I like it.

    Some more pics. 2B711B42-93DC-458F-9617-09A478D0C0FB.jpeg E8E1E5B6-3B76-4228-9D3A-FB1DB9E69C13.jpeg 99C8F1FD-0F91-4015-82B3-1F5348B58930.jpeg 8B8CE904-8105-439F-ACB6-2253E9C1FBCA.jpeg 0691BE0C-6534-4F84-BC57-7B59842238B6.jpeg 7718E8AC-59AE-4EA2-8BCB-1DC4ED38A203.jpeg 16095D0A-41D1-454A-91A4-8964F54AEACF.jpeg

The finish is really nice, more mustard than tv yellow but good wood grain show through. I can’t find any significant flaws anywhere.

The pickup is a Roswell Alnico 5 P90 and it sounds really good. Wiring is neat and the parts all look quality enough. I was initially thinking I’d have to replace the pickups and maybe do the wiring and pots since those tend to be where cheap guitars cut the costs but there is really no need. This is everything an alnico 5 p90 should sound like, which is probably why the pickup is branded. Roswell should be proud of this pickup so of course they put their name on it. There’s plenty of 60 cycle hum, obviously, cause that’s what p90s do, but no feedback even when I pile on the gain. Really impressed with the stock pickup.

The tuners are Wilkinson Deluxes and they’re solid and turn well. No cheapo tuners here.

The neck feels really close to the one on my Agile 3200, which means it’s a nice medium C. Not vintage fat but not thin either. A good medium feel.

Frets are good, no sharp edges, no dead spots, radius is comfortable and everything.

Bridge is my first wraparound so that’s new territory for me but it does have adjustments available for intonation. I found it a bit putzy putting new strings on but I’m sure I’ll get used to it soon enough.

The body doesn’t have the comfort cutaway that you see on the website picture, it’s just a good ol flat slab of mahogany like a classic jr should be. And that’s fine since the guitar only weighs around 7.5 pounds, it doesn’t need to be any lighter. There is a little neck dive when playing standing but not bad at all, and given the shape and size and everything that’s not unexpected either.

All in all, This is a great guitar. It plays good, sounds good, great pickup, solid tuners, neck and frets are great, it really just is quite good. It’s everything I’d want from a junior.

Taking all that into account, I can’t believe this is $220. There’s nothing obviously budget or cheap about any part of this guitar. You wouldn’t find this level of quality on a $200 Epiphone or Squier. Maybe in the $400-$600 range with one of those you’re getting closer but not at $200.

It’s just a good guitar, flat out, but factor in the price and I’m extremely impressed.
