Ride the green wave... Craigslist find:
What the heck is it? More pics, please.
Novel Case Choice - more info please
Surf city, here you come! Great find, hope you enjoy it.
2000 Yamaha SGV300, some dings, cracked pickguard, missing whammy bar, 2 non-original knobs, slight crack in the headstock.
The Coffin Case was not part of the deal, its the only case I had that fit the body style.
Cool find. Love the color
I've lusted after one of those things ever since Peter Capaldi was seen wielding one in Doctor Who. Very nice find, certainly hope to have one myself one day.
So that's where I've seen them!
I wanted the Canary Yellow "Flying Banana" version, but I guess I'll have to settle for a Flying Green Banana.
My buddy had one back in the day (1973). Sadly he died suddenly earlier this year. I'm the dude on the right.
I know a few other TDPRI members have these wacky things. Little more info from the web:
Maple neck, rosewood fingerboard. The 300 has 3 ferrite-core single coil pickups, two of which are wired in tandem in the bridge position-- the 300 has one master vol, one master tone, and a "blender" pot, which basically controls the amount of the "middle" pickup in the tandem bridge pup arrangement.
When the bridge pickup is selected (in either the middle or bridge switch position) the blender pot lets you dial in the amount of the second coil (the one in the middle). This way, the bridge and middle pickup can be used in either a single-coil or humbucking arrangement.
The pickup selector on the 300 functions pretty much as normal, with neck, both, and bridge (tandem arrangement) as the choices.
Sorry to hear that, dude.... musta been a cool guy to be slinging one of these guitars. Sorry for your loss, remember the good times and tunes.
GC actually carried a reissue version of those in the late 90' s.
They used to have a "list" sale every so often.
One time they had three of those for $149 ea. on the list-
someone grabbed them while I was in the store- I bet they would be worth at least $800 ea. now.
There's one of
I think there's some sort of reissue along those lines sitting on the Guitar Center used site right now. More of a traditional Strat in terms of electronics and trem, but definitely has that wild body shape. I'd probably be buying it if I had more money to throw around.
This one is a model year 2000, so it could be a GC one. There's another model that's not quite as dramatic and looks cheaper. This is a high quality guitar.
I'm sure i have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa than finding original parts for this thing.
I may clean it up and resell it to fund my Gretsch itch.
Same here. Not sure if I heard that actual guitar or if it was recorded and overdubbed with something different, but the doctor had great tone!!!
love those samarai yamahas
