I was searching Guitar Center's website. They have a tendency to not always know what they have and offer stupid cheap prices. All this needed was a change to proper and newer strings. Killer tone and tons of power.

Pics coming soon.

Congrats on a great guitar. Glad to hear you got a good deal on it. These type of guitars are so much fun to play. Very unique tone. I've almost pulled the trigger several times, but alas never did.

At first the solid headstock threw me off, but I found out that Selmer/Maccaferri actually made some with that headstock.

That's really nice, the bridge is really cool!

How would you describe the sound compared to, say, an OM or 000 type of guitar?

I'm curious about the bracing, searching around for info.

You cannot really compare it to a conventional acoustic guitar. The sound is very specialized for the Gypsy Jazz tone. Very bright and loud, but with body. Listen to Django Reinhardt or in more modern context, Stochelo Rosenberg or Joscho Stephan. It would never fit in to, for example, a bluegrass or folk genre.

Here's an example:

By the way, I wish I could play like Stocholo

Took it to rehearsal last night. It is very responsive and plays with a lighter right hand touch than I am used to. Powerful projection and outstanding tone. I have heard that the Gitanes are not always the most consistent, but I think this one is a keeper.
