Several months ago there was a beautiful Emerald Blue ASAT Special with a matching headstock at the Music Go Round near me. They wanted $1200 for it, I think. I didn't really want to pay that much, but it sure was nice. Someone else bought it, and I was filled with regret. Then about 2 weeks ago the same guitar popped up at Guitar Center. I went out and put $100 down for them to hold it for me while I sold some stuff. I put up a partscaster and a couple pedals on Craigslist, not a single email for a week! So I listed them on Reverb and everything except one pedal sold in a day. I got to the break even point and picked it up Friday evening.

I am really a vintage radius and frets guy, but this guitar plays wonderfully. I know that not everyone likes the MFDs, but I'm digging them. I dropped them really low and am using the tone knob more than usual - probably a good thing. The weight is 7 lb 5 oz, pretty good.

I'm not as familiar with G&L's custom shop and how that works. If there was an envelope that says "Custom Build Specifications," does that mean someone special ordered it? It would seem so, but who knows . . .

Looks to be a bargain ! And I like the MFDs .

Of course if it was mine, I would have to have some bell bottoms and wide lapels to celebrate the sparkles :)

$800? Well, I think you broke your RNG for quite some time. That's a damn fine score.

Gorgeous. Love the matching color headstock. My guitar center never has cool guitars like that.

    Nice nice nice!
I’ve only played one ASAT Special but I liked it a lot. If I could find one on this side of the water for anywhere near what you’ve just paid I’d be a very happy man!

I want!!!!!!!! Ok, not sure about the rear contour (Yep, each to there own). but I will say this - I paid more than that for my Asat Special in the Uk 24 years ago. Absolute steal.......... Completely jealous of you. I want to say many bad profanities about you. But! Well done. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever. Enjoy your purchase. If you cannot get on with her. Please allow me first refusal. I'll give you what you paid for her (and yes, I'm being serious).

Ah. that lovely man Alan. It was my Asat you played. She's very poorly, but what an instrument.

Indeed it was! A very well-worn fretboard from years of good use... but still lovely to play.
