It was at a place that sold used and overstocked merchandise. By the serial number its a 2013 (January) and it is in like new condition. No pick scratches, no blemishes, and dusty as all get out. It’s a ST-57-TX in Sonic Blue. I got it for very cheap. Best of all there was another (red) one down there in the same condition for slightly more!! Headed back soon!

Nice find! So if I understand correctly did you bought this in Japan yourself? And when you say you're going back for the red one, you mean you're traveling back to Japan again?

    Congrats!

Japanese guitar craftmanship is amazing. My Custom Tele (see avatar) has this same '57 Strat neck and I love it.
Enjoy your guitar... and think hard about this little red too!!!

    Thanks!
I have been stuck in Japan for a year as a result of the zombie apocalypse and on a whim I went with a friend to this shop. I bought the guitar for ¥29,900 JPY. That’s $287 bucks folks!! It looks like it just came out of the box. I’m pretty sure the rusted strings that were on it were the original strings. There is a red one that looks to be it’s mate!! Going back in the marrow!!

Here’s the two of them on the rack. The red one had a much nicer neck, darker tint and a bit chunkier.

Guitar number three secured and I will post pics in a separate post. Talking to the owner of the bar we frequent he told me the location of a few more places to check out. I checked on line when I first got here and found nothing. We are in a tiny little village called Shirihama. It’s gorgeous. But it’s a bit sleepy and deals are a bit off the beaten path.... I am extremely impressed by the quality of the MIJ and CIJ guitars. This guitar has a very special V shape neck that is fantastic. I usually don’t like them but this one just has something, chunky, smooth,... I can’t pinpoint it yet...

looks like a ST52 to me.. congrats.. MIJ/CIJ guitars are top notch.. honestly, if you ever find the Highest end ones with Nitro finishes, you better not pass it up and make sure you A & B it with your american fenders and you'll feel the difference..

Im a long time fan of Japanese guitars.. and if ever there's one tele I regret letting go, its my Daphne Blue 62 tele.. every bit on par with the AVRI62

    Hi.

I think my fav. colour might be Daphne Blue.

I have the poly finished version that immediately followed the TL62-US, in black. Basically just a name change to do with restructuring, as I understand it. I love it, but would have loved to a greater degreee one in Daphne Blue.

Oh, and my most recent acquisition is a nitro finished 50s style blackguard looking MIJ Tele. Super happy with its somewhat chunky soft V neck. That’s worked out really well for me.

And, to the OP, that Strat looks really nice!
