    Hi, all!

This will be my first real post, my previous was a question regarding the neck plate. This gal is a 2005/2006 (serial Z5 so it could be either one) American Series. Plays and sounds way better than I expected--I've been a Strat player for the past several years and was finally mesmerized by this beauty. I'm almost ready to say that I like the versatility of this instrument better, but we'll see how I feel after the honeymoon phase.

Anyone know the pickups in guitar? I've emailed Fender consumer relations but if any of you can provide info then by all means go ahead. I love the CAR finish and I actually like the milled block saddles, they're very comfortable. I'm pretty sure someone will want to know how much I paid--got it for $650. It's in excellent condition with the exception of a few light buckle scratches on the back, of which I'm not bothered. I'll try to take nicer pics in a bit, weather in Cali is beautiful right now ;)

Nice looking guitar, welcome to the forum!
I'm from San Diego, but bought most of my Teles since moving to D/FW.
I've found myself using the tone knob a lot more on the Teles.
If I could only have one or the other, I think Teles are what I would choose over Strats.
Not sure about the pickups, sorry.

Repeatofender, funny, I'll be in Texas for the next few months--that's why I got the Tele to help pass the time haha.

I absolutely know what you mean about the tone knob, I've been able to get that sparkly tone and a fat tone by manipulating the tone and volume knobs. I believe this one has a grease bucket circuit because of the notch when dimed, but I could be mistaken.

I'm at the dentist so I'll check the pickups when I get home. I think the finish is chrome red. I had a 2004 American Series Telecaster in that finish, but with a maple neck.

Edit: Fender has them listed as 2 American Tele single coil pickups.

If it's an American series Tele, I think the notch on the tone control might be a Delta Tone no-load circuit.

Correct the Delta tone no load tone control and a high output bridge pickups is what they have stock :)

Congrats to the op, nice looker with the red body and white pickguard with RW board.

First Delta Tone Fender I had was a Strat I found on CL. Thought the detent pot was defective..took off the guard and was wondering why the "broken" pot was a CTS and the "good" pots were Alpha's. Live and learn.

Thank you all for your responses!

I didn't even think to research whether or not this was equipped with a delta tone circuit as opposed to the grease bucket. As far as the finish, chrome red seems more likely than candy apple red. The white balance isn't too off, so hopefully the pickguard can be determined from it. It's somewhere in between parchment and cream, although it might just be a cream pickguard.

That baby looks like a fast race car!

I have had a similar experience as you with the tone knob. Used to keep it maxed on any other guitar I've had. But my CVC Tele is so responsive to adjusting the tone. Little turns here and there get a lot of different sounds out of it.
