Got my very first ever Strat the other day: a sunburst 2012 Deluxe Player Strat. I'm very happy with it; it sounds pretty Stratty, I like the neck, and I like sunbursts; good figured Ash; I have Tele that could be its cousin. What I am not wild about is the gold hardware, although it is not as showy on this guitar as it was on my Gretsch County Classic. Maybe I can learn to accept it for what is.

I don't know enough or have a clear enough mental image of what the "right" Strat tone is to have a opinion about the noiseless pickups, but we'll see.

It's real nice looking. I do agree that the gold sometimes looks gaudy. It's not too bad on this one at all. Kind of blends cuz of the color.

I guess no one can say you jumped on the strat train too soon! Congrats and enjoy.

I've got one flattop guitar with some gold colored tuners that I got for other reasons and after about 15 years, the shine is starting to tone down a bit; if you're in a less patient mode, you could take the hardware off and leave it on the back porch in the Texas weather until it turns into a less shiny gold...

all in all, I'm never thinking about the color of any guitar parts while I'm playing, so there's always that.

I'm sure you'll do it justice. Thanks for the photos.

That's a sweet ride. I'm not a big fan of gold hardware either, but it works on this guitar.

Of course you'll need a Twin Reverb and a TS-9 to go with it

I don't think the gold looks bad at all. Nice guitar...

    Handsome!

Gold totally works for that one. Sort of blends with the burst.

Yeah - I'm running out of time to get one

I've got the Twin. I just need someone to help me move it around.

And I did locate the hardware to change it out to chrome, which would make it a 60's Strat with the extra pickup combinations, but I'll leave it alone cosmetically for now. I sure have been playing it a bunch.

I’m not really into gold either, but it doesn’t look gawdy on that guitar. Won’t take it long to get dull, tarnished, and start rubbing off, either. Then it’ll calm the look down even further.

The noiseless pickups have their detractors, but I love them. Close enough for government work, and the lack of hum is really very nice for a live player.

    Enjoy that thing!

Get a big fat gold chain and revel in the gaudiness.

I have a newer version of that guitar and it quacks like a duck! I found the vintage noiseless PUs a little too clean for my taste (going for a more bluesy thing) and swapped them out cheaply for Boootstrap pickups. Gotta admit, a burst strat is definitely a chick magnet (just don't tell my wife)

BTW, on mine- that little white button switches the bridge pickup in on positions 4 and 5 (so you can get the bridge and neck combination). Lot's of good tone in that machine.

Congrats dude, that’s a fine looking guitar. And I agree with others - that gold doesn’t look too bad on it. Blends in nicely. May look different in person, and perhaps it will age nicely, but at least you have options. Enjoy.

I see that being played while wearing a Nudie suit.

The gold and the white knobs have sort of a "formal-casual" look - pretty cool!

Not a fan of gold either, but since it is there, you might as well throw a black pickguard on it and go for an SRV tribute.
