The last few years I have drifted away from playing Teles but I have recently switched bands and I have been finding that a Tele works really well for this band. I have plenty of Teles but I was getting GAS for a new one.
Last night I picked up a Fender Carved Koa Top Select Tele. I love it! I spent all last night playing it and comparing it to my other Teles and it does have a distinct tone, warmer but still retaining the Tele sound. I'm not sure if it is the woods used or the pickups or both.
Also I'm a big fan of 10s on my Teles but the 9s shipped on this guitar feel really good, I may do my first gig tomorrow with them on it and see how it goes.
Overall I couldn't be happier with the guitar.

That's lovely. I have a mahogany ASAT Junior that is very stripey, in a clear trans red finish. Looks a lot like that. It's my favorite. Do I see a modern bridge? What kinds of pickups?

You should write a review of your Tele on the Fender website... we need it!

What is Empress wood with a Koa top?

Koa always looks fake to me! LOL, I guess cuz it's so darn dark and rich and figured that it looks more like a picture of wood than actual wood!

    Looks really nice tho! congrats

Stunning grain! I'm afraid that, if I had one like that, all I'd do is sit there and stare at it all day.
