Do you know what gage strings they come with?
I'm pretty sure that the 70th Anniversary Esquires are shipped with nines. I have re-strung mine with tens.
Fender's website says 10-46.
Still not sure.
Congrats AviA, that's a fine looking Esquire. Enjoy.
To be honest, I wasn't sure either! I had read in a couple of places that they used nines. I always use tens on Teles but didn't feel that the original set felt overly 'light'. What gauge do you normally use? How do the strings on your Esquire feel to you?
Thanks a lot
I usually use Elixir Nanoweb 9-42.
The Esquire felt a bit stiff to me when it arrived so I assumed it came with 10s (and that's what Fender's site is showing).
@hatrack here's the answer I got from Fender's Consumer Support:
"Thanks for reaching out. We typically string all of our vintage spec guitars with .010-.046 gauge strings. I checked with the build of materials, and the 70th anniversary Esquire does come strung with .010 gauge strings."
@AviA Ha Ha! Kudos and respect for your dogged determination to find an answer to this conundrum! L'chaim.
Haha... I think I'll go with 9-46
Happy NGD, play it in good health.
Thank you, @50hz
