I dig it. Some of those heavy relics just feel and sound too good to pass up. Even if your not in love with the look. (I like them)

I never understood the appeal of heavy relic until I tried a similar CS ‘51 Nocaster at Emerald City Guitars in Seattle yesterday.

It was the fat neck that got me coupled with how light the guitar was. And it played and sounded awesome. Now I get it. The whole experience of that guitar was out of this world. Worth every penny I’m going to save to own it.

Got this baby last week in Japan trip. Originally planned to get either Gibson R6 or Fender CS Strat in Shell Pink but tried a bunch of them in different music store and none felt right.

Then when I was sitting in front of an amp in Kurosawa Music Instrument store, looking around and saw many CS Teles, so why not? Tried couple of them.

The back tele with white guard one was tempting, very nice tone, round and warm but a bit too polite sounding, good but I already have some polite sounding guitars and I want something very bright and with a lot bite.
Then the shop manager urge me to try the black heavy relic Nocaster, said it was a non catalog model, custom built and they selected this particular one during meeting with Fender, at first not really interested, kinda prejudice towards relicing, nevermind heavy relicing but I plug it in anyways.

Yeah, hand my credit card to Fuji San after couple minutes of playing this Nocaster.
Very bright sound, a lot of bite and twang but without sounding thin. The neck is U shape but ever so slightly slimmer than other 51 Nocasters I tried before, very comfortable and very light! 3.1kg

Little video with really bad audio quality :/

Big Mew fan. Is that "the actual guitar" being used to play that confounding intro ?

That is a bitchin' guitar - I love the black nocasters, and I love heavy relics. I have the blackguard version, but if I were starting over, I would find one of those black ones. Too lazy to switch now though, especially since I love mine so much as it is.

Very cool. I'm a sucker for black relics, just love that look of aged black nitro finish especially with a black guard.
