This is a bit of a wish-come-true day for me. I've wanted a great example of the AVRI Custom Telecaster 62 Reissue for years. And now I have one and am thrilled!

There don't tend to be many of these come up for sale in the UK and, when they do, they tend to be overpriced in my opinion. Either that or, less usually, a bit beaten up. There are loads of MIJ ‘62s here, but not so many USA. And I've never seen a Surf Green here before.

I actually found this guitar about a year ago and at the time I had way too many other commitments and couldn't make the move. The guitar was in a local instrument store in a city a long way from me and, awkwardly, a customer commission sale - cash in person only, no courier. It meant a good drive away from me. Anyway, I put it at the back of my mind. I then sold two MIM Teles after Christmas and I checked back in with the shop to see if it was still there and asked for more details and lots of pictures.

And then today, I had the opportunity to be much nearer to the store so I twisted my travel plans in order to check it out. I got it and for under the on-line market price in this condition.

It is a close-to pristine 2007 in Surf Green. The colour changes with the light from light blue to green. There is hardly a mark on it. It's a pretty as a Summer's day. The shop owner said that it had been under the bed and rarely played by a local player collector.

It has a sumptuous slab of smooth dark rosewood with a nice slight rounding of the fretboard edges and a lovely shaped medium neck. It sounds glorious - chimey, snappy but warm. The '62 bridge pick-up I have on builds and it is a favourite. A nice weight, probably 7.5 pounds, it balances beautifully. I hope the pics do it justice.

Actually ... That's a very pretty (and very mint) example you've laid your hands on. Congrats rze! :)

Yes, a very attractive instrument and looks like it'll fit nicely in your recent montage. And it's blue(ish) too. I'm glad the wait paid off.

I've grown very fond of my 62 Custom RI even though it's MiJ. And red.

Hey @rze99 I am stoked that you found this beauty! We share a passion for vintage-style Fenders and pastel finishes. I tried one (just exactly the same model and finish) and were it not for my big clumsy hands that like bigger profiles it would be my dream Tele! Beautiful, and great tones. I can see how it's a wish-come-true acquisition. I am VERY happy for you and that guitar is extraordinarily beautiful! HNGD!

Thanks for your kind words and its a shame the neck didn't suit you. I have longish and slim hands and I can deal with pretty much any neck shape. Cheers .

Congrats! Yours looks just like mine! They are great guitars - mine is the best guitar I've ever played. I bought mine new in 2012 when they discontinued them. I scoured the web for a surf green because I knew they would all dry up quickly. It took a few weeks but I finally located one at Dave's Guitar shop. I did the capacitor change (shipped with the guitar) to blend the pickups in the middle position. Enjoy!

I favor bigger necks but if there is one guitar I’d make an exception for it’s the ’62 Custom tele – Seafoam Green for me as well, please. The one I tried is still there at the shop (the owner is still asking an excessive price for it). From time to time I go see her … a real looker and some great tele tones … one day perhaps … :D

PS: yours looks better every time I go over the pics. It really has a ‘60s aura.
