I scored a brand-new Fender FSR American Special Telecaster in beautiful Sherwood Green for a great price! Surprisingly, this particular one seems to have a larger than expected neck on it. It's by no means thick, but it's not as thin as I recall the neck on my old Highway One Strat being. I'm planning to install a parchment pickguard to replace the stock mint green one. It doesn't look bad in the photos, but the mint green makes the whole package a bit too green in person. I've also ordered a set of Fender compensated brass saddles. And I may end up ditching the stock Texas Special pickups in favour of a Pure Vintage '64 set. Anyways, I'm thrilled so far and I think that this will end up being a more vintage-flavoured alternative to my American Pro Tele (Sonic Gray). I think that the two will compliment each other nicely without either becoming redundant.
