Just got this yesterday... So far, I'm loving it! I never owned an SG before. I love P90 pickups as a general rule. In a perfect world, I'd upgrade them to the Greg Koch P90s, but that would cost as much as the guitar (more than I paid for it, anyway).

The color is Faded Pelham Blue. I like. Love the new Epiphone headstocks, so much nicer. The neck is thin and flat/wide-ish. I think I'm going to like the feel once I get used to it a little.

I had one briefly before I noticed the neck being mounted at an angle. But it played and sounded great! Just couldn't set it up ideally.

Does yours have the headstock dive that sometimes plagues that model?

Too bad about the angle. There's a little dive, but it's not bad. I've experienced worse.

Nice avatar btw! I am just about to list the Epi version of her guitar (sans maestro trem) on Reverb. Sad day but it's gotta go.

    Enjoy!

I tried out a similar model (red faded finish with TOM bridge) in a shop recently and it was nice. Very wide and thin neck, quite different to my Fenders.

I had a set neck Epi MIK “custom shop” Les Paul Special some years back.
I have no idea what year it was made.
I really liked it and played a few gigs with it, although I wasn’t overly impressed with the tone.
I found it it actually had P-100 pickups in it, which are P-90 looking humbuckers.
    Are those real P-90’s?

That baby is nice! The newer Epiphone headstocks are more attractive than some of their past efforts. (personal taste and all)

That’s a beauty. Surprising how the one piece bridge makes the body look longer.

Congrats, these are incredible tone machines. The P90s in there are as good as any, you just have to dial them in. I had it's older sis for a while, a 2011 Epiphone 50th Anniversary '61 SG Reissue and man was it sounding good. Here's a small clip I made at the time.

If your SG was mine, I'd lower the neck pup as much as I can, that is usually where its sweet spot is. Higher it is just boomy. It'll clear it up and you'll get a nice middle position almost acoustic tone. If you do it, make sure you push down on the cover as you screw it down. If you don't, those flimsy long thin screws will snap.

There is no such thing as a Custom Shop at Epiphone, despite what the stamp says. About 95% of all Epiphone have that Limited Eidition Custom Shop stamp since about 15 years ago. Good marketing, that's all :)

My Epi LP 57 RI Junior had one of those awful P100 in it. I didn't know the Special had them too. Changed mine for a Lollar, what a difference !
