It's finally here! I ordered this back in July and have been impatiently waiting for Epiphone to get the crap together. The release got pushed back a couple of times even though some early units were trickling out.

Sweetwater beauty shots since it literally just got dropped off:

I'm not sure how I feel about the two knots in the fretboard though.

Now the big question: Do I let it sit until tomorrow like the big warning sticker on the box tells me to, or bust it out and jam?

What a cool guitar! I can't wait to hear what you think after you've busted it out! I dig those knots in the fretboard... as long as they don't affect the playability of the guitar. They look pretty cool and different.

I had an early 2000's Epi when they were not a bolt on neck. It was a great player but HEAVY... has sustain for days but it was definitely a sitting guitar.

Very nice looking guitar. I'd live with the knots and just play the heck out of it.

I've got a hold on an aged cherry one if/when one arrives locally, as I really want to check out the neck profile first. What's the weight on yours?? Looking forward to a review!

Bust it out. It hasn’t really been cold yet, and you’re in Florida, so it’s traveled in that weather for at least a day. Crack that puppy open.

I wouldn't worry about the knots. I don't think the manufacturers do! I had an R8 with a knot like one of those up by the high frets.

I'm expecting somewhere in the mid 8 pound range from other guys I've spoken with the have had theirs for a bit. These aren't weight relieved at all. I'm hoping the neck profile is good. Everyone says its slimmer than the Epi 50's standards. I've never been much a a fat neck fan.

You have a point, it's been in a hot truck since Tuesday and it was high 60's when it left Ft. Wayne.

Well if it's good enough for a $5k guitar it must be alright then lol. I've been trying to think if I've ever seen knots in a FB. As long as I can't feel them, I'll let it ride.

Me and 2 of my buddies all bought various newer Epi SG's this year:

    Me- a used, 2018 SG Pro ( '66 style)

Bill- a 2020 Epi SG Special P-90 his brother,
    Ed- a 2020 Epi '62-style SG Standard

And all 3 of are just absolutely knocked out at how good these guitars play, sound and look. Great values too

Nice - I like that they got rid of that ridiculous headstock.

Wow, is that a crack in the neck wood ( as opposed to just the finish)?
Sorry about this, along with the hassle of the return/shipping misery

    * still standing by the actual build quality/ tone of new Epis...
