Those old arias are cool you should fix it up... and hopefully you noticed the rex paint before you put it on your carpet to take the pic.

Cool. Tell the singer to find his own. Just Kidding.

I've still got my knight Warrior (?). It needs some tlc. The last time I messed around with it, I was surprised how the neck felt like a Tele neck.

Amazing find! I have yet to see a guitar in a dumpster—but I look for them.

That axe needs a good thorough cleaning... this demonstration video may help:

Great! No, wait. The singer wants it? I suppose even going to a singer beats the knacker's. Don't clean it too much, though.

Cool rescue! I'm keen to check it out after you've fixed it up.

If your singer doesn't want it, see if there's a Guitars for Vets chapter in your area, and donate it. We have one in Cincinnati and they do a lot of good work getting guitars in the hands of war veterans.

I would keep it as-is, with just essential repairs. It is a decent guitar and the authentic relicing looks OK

    .

    I like a good rescue project ;)

    Show pictures as you go.

I'll use 50/50 ammonia/water on a cloth for that kind of grunge. Take off any metal bits and scrub with vinegar and a wad of aluminum foil then rinse with clean water, dry, and polish up with automotive wax -- learned this from the antique car guys working on chrome parts.

Use a damp white t-shirt under a hot clothes iron to lift any of the dings. Sand any sharp spots with 800-1500 grit sandpaper. Any paint chips you want to keep from expanding use some super glue to stick the edges down (you can use it to drop fill too).

Well, I cleaned the body, drilled a hole for the new jack because the old side mounted one was all messed up, that was all it took to make it come alive again.

Did a quick rub with some very fine sand paper over the frets and fitted a new nut.

And gave it to our singer at rehearsal, who was tickled pink with it.

So sorry you guys, no pictures. But the guitar found a good new home with an appreciative new owner.

The one thing I did keep was the bar of the whammy, because it happens to be the kind of bar that Fits the Kahler on my double locking monster and I needed a fitting bar for that one.

I do this after every gig except I use more soap and don't remove the strings...

Those are well-made guitars. Would rather play that all day long than a regular Strat.

If the truss rod works there's always hope for just about any guitar. Otherwise, dump it.

Hey! I was wondering where my guitar went! I lost track of it when my waist long hair kept getting in my eyes.

Already relic'd, just replace the nut, put on some strings, clean the jack and fire it up.

With a nut riser and a used set of strings, that could be my slide axe tomorrow night.
