Really impressed. 7.2lbs, ash body, nice dark slab rosewood neck (very comfy). I don't mind the custom shop Texas Specials but may swap them eventually. This guitar rings loudly and you can feel the vibrations all thru the body. The threaded steel saddles are cool, no intonation issues and the dark fretboard dots look nice too. Fret size is perfect, they spec'd this guitar nicely.

Beautiful guitar. Not flash, which would, to me, go against the Tele ethos, just quality, quietly understated. Is it, and this is not meant to be disparaging, a partcaster using new Fender components fine tuned and assembled by Dave?

It's an actual Fender guitar. Made in America for a dealer, Dave's Guitar Shop (several Wisconsin locations). Here are some Reverb sold listings:

Congrats @roknfnrol!

That's a beauty. I owned the exact same guitar (pic) from Dave's a couple of years ago but sold it a few months back to fund another purchase. Now I want one again!

I own several Custom Shop Teles and Strats and I can say from experience from having owned this Dave's model that it is the best deal out there for a Custom Shop equivalent Tele, but 50% less than the price of an FCS if it had the exact same specs. It's a killer deal for an even more killer guitar.

Dave's also does a '62 Reissue Strat like this and same thing, basically a Custom Shop guitar at half the price.

I dare say these Teles can rival my friend's Dano that I played recently.

Dave's and Wildwood used to have many of the same special edition exclusives, particularly the "thin skins". Dave's seems to have continued but I haven't seen as many from Wildwood.
I had one of their 62 Thin Skins in White Blonde(both Wildwood and Dave's had them) and it was great. They also had many "blackguard" thin skins and a white blonde 55 thin skin. If my memory is correct, those guitars around 2010 were in $1200 range.
I think those were in the same vein as the ones in this thread.
I need to visit Dave's website more frequently.😁

I bought mine used after watching the supply of new ones seemingly dry up — I have only seen a couple of Strats trickle in to Dave's in the last year or so. Similar story with Wildwood Thin Skins — only a few Tele Deluxes.
I was looking on Dave's site... they put a 62 Tele up today.

Shouldn't a '62 have a patent number (s) under the decal, or is that just '61-up Strats?
