That's awesome. Huge fan of Dave's. Btw, how often do they get those in? I've been checking their site daily to see if/when they will get more of those 1962's in.

Congrats @roknfnrol!

That's a beauty. I owned the exact same guitar (pic) from Dave's a couple of years ago but sold it a few months back to fund another purchase. Now I want one again!

I own several Custom Shop Teles and Strats and I can say from experience from having owned this Dave's model that it is the best deal out there for a Custom Shop equivalent Tele, but 50% less than the price of an FCS if it had the exact same specs. It's a killer deal for an even more killer guitar.

Dave's also does a '62 Reissue Strat like this and same thing, basically a Custom Shop guitar at half the price.

I bought mine used after watching the supply of new ones seemingly dry up — I have only seen a couple of Strats trickle in to Dave's in the last year or so. Similar story with Wildwood Thin Skins — only a few Tele Deluxes.

I love it. I love the look of 61-63. Old style decal, rosewood, threaded saddles . . .

But I have a silly question, serious, but silly . . . What makes it a 1962? Is it slab rosewood? Like, why not call it a 1961, did the decal change?

Nothing changed haha. It could be a late '59/1960 - 1963. Slab rosewood, threaded saddles, single ply pickguard, spaghetti logo.

'62 is their thing, whether it's Teles or Strats or offsets, their Fender FSRs are always '62-inspired. Maybe it's Dave's birth year or something.

The changes I've made to mine have made it probably even more anachronistic — round switch tip, 5-hole pickguard, brass saddles in the mail from Glendale today. I tell myself it's not out of the question that one like mine might have shipped in '59 when they were still using up the last of some old parts....

1962 was another "transition" year for Fender in regards to the Rosewood fingerboards. I believe 1962 was the last year they used slab rosewood before switching to veneer later that same year.
