Well, the NGD was actually yesterday. I’ve had too many guitars to count, and so many CS Strats and Teles. All really, really good guitars. But I’ve been regretting selling a 53 CS Tele I had. There haven’t been a whole lot of Blackguards around recently, so I took a chance and tried Wildwood Guitars in Colorado. It’s a big neck (duh!) 51 Nocaster. Well, the law of averages has smiled on me. This thing is perfect, and it just screams! It has the Josefina Twisted Tele p’ups and everything about it is just killer. I’ve also had a jillion and two amps, but to me, a good Tele into a Tweed amp on 7 is spec-freaking-tacular. It is a magic combination, like peanut butter and jelly! I can’t say enough great things about this guitar! I’m so psyched!

Edit: 10:43 PM EDT - More pics added. Check out that flamed maple neck! Nice U shape profile from .950 to 1.00.

Yeah man, I think that looks pretty cool, but more pics please!

Maybe chuck a PAF style bucker in the neck, get rid of that clunky low E string and rip out some Keef! :p

Congrats!! Sounds and looks like a winner. While I, and probably most, prefer to play guitars before buying, there is something super exciting about opening up the Fender box and opening that case for the first time that can't be matched

    Wicked.

yeah I love a Nocaster into a cranked 5e3 a Special thing. The greg V cream wheat vid is a great example.

I usually do play first, and even then, prefer to compare more than two of the exact same model, since, sadly, Fender can be a bit inconsistent, not to mention variations in wood, and other things. But Wildwood, who had about 7 blackguard Nocasters, assured me that I could return it if I didn’t love it, was why I gave it a shot. Within 2 minutes of playing it I knew it was a winner! I mentioned my 53 in my OP. When I first played that one in my local shop, I immediately went to the desk and said - “I have to have this guitar! Let’s work this out.” Likewise, when I played this Nocaster, it was the same thing. And I’ve probably had 6 Teles between the two.

Oh yeah - That Greg V video is awesome! I had a new Crema that Adam Palow made for me. I never would have sold it except that the Buckwheat is essentially the same amp, but with 6L6’s and a bigger output transformer. (Adam’s own words) The cab is only slightly bigger, so it’s still very portable.

Care to share more details on this?
I picked up one of these last year, though my serial number looks to be a bit earlier and it doesn't have as much relic work on it but I fell in love with it at the store and had to have it.

I like these pix of black guard teles! I think visually because they are not TOO butterscotch. They look pretty real...like original 1950's Tele's I remember playing as just "old used guitars" in 1970 I when I was a teen just starting to play in bands.
