My first used guitar purchase on Reverb. Nervous but mostly excited to get it.
91-92 American Standard Tele. Looks to be excellent condition. Shipping from NY with one of those tsa cases. I’m going to design a 3 screw mount bridge for 3 compensated saddles. Gonna be a fun project and hopefully a guitar I love.
Anybody got a standard from early 90s?

I have an ‘83 3-burst am std, so not exactly the same era, but it’s exactly the same color body as yours and also alder wood. Mine has a rosewood board and a different modern style bridge with 6 offset saddles.

The Standards are great guitars. You got a nice one there. I hope it arrives quickly and safe!

Nice. I would have picked a rosewood board but this was a great deal and in such good condition.

    Congratulations!

Now that you've broken the seal with Reverb.... it's better to spend more time looking and less time buying. IMO. Just sayin'... :D

My post scans "domineering" and "d*ckish". I just mean that Reverb makes it kind of too easy to buy guitars, at least for me. Just relating what I know.

Not a Tele, but a '95 American Standard Strat that I bought new in '97.

I've gone through several Strat's over the years and so far it's been my keeper.

Played many AM stds from the 90's all were excellent . If the one you have is anything like the 08 I bought in '18 then you will be well pleased. The 08 has different bridge/saddles but overall perhaps very similar. 9.5 radius, thinner profile ,1.65 nut width ( 1.68 yours) fret heights just under .045, etc..a great player , very comfortable. Paid $799 at GC USED, with hard case, couldn't believe nobody bought it. It was hanging on the opposite side of the store from the guitar wall. Even the sales clerk didn't know it was in the store ! Went in to buy a strap came out with the guitar. They GAVE me the strap ! The 08 became my regular duty gig guitar , also had a Forrest Lee jr B Bender installed.

Don't walk by the USED Am Stds , most are priced incredibly competitive with other models and will play every bit as good if not better.

    Nice guitar, congrats !

Wow, could be a sister to my 92 Tele Bought that year and dropped two days later after purchase. I had them sand the edges down and put a mint green pickguard on it to make it looked "aged" (this was before relics).

The truss rod is turned all the way so having a roasted maple neck put on and "Nashvilling" it with a humbucker in the neck and strat in the middle, both pups I'm waiting on.

I had a 1990 american Tele. I wasn't wild about the pickups, so I put the Texas Special Tele pickups in it. It was an improvement to me. Mine was really light weight. Great guitar.
