    Hi all,

My 6th Tele (at the moment) and it's finally a white blonde Squier Classic Vibe. Feels good but needs a clean up, has a few dents and needs to skinny original strings replaced (it's a 2010 model!!).

Gumtree bargain - friend tipped me off, days of grinding the seller down as moving abroad and finally got the guitar for a good price. Bizarrely, I am on holiday and the guitar was 2 minutes from our accommodation. Fate!

Not sure my wife thinks so. No idea what it sounds like as the holiday cottage unfortunately does not come equipped with a Fender Bassman!

May upgrade a few bits if it needs it, but it may require nothing much doing, other than a set up.

    Thanks all.

It is a nice, 2 piece body with a lovely grain matched well on the front. Quite a nice slightly yellowed colour. All seems pretty good quality (with the usual cheap switch and pots...)

Anyone done anything which has really improved a CV? At present my only mods will be proper set up for 10's, probably a Switchcraft jack (as the normal one always comes loose unless glued) and some Schaller strap locks (which I have on every guitar).

    Brian.

I put an electro socket jack on mine, problem solved.

I also have a 2010 white CV-50 like yours.. I love it. I think, according to fellow members on this forum, that the pots are full sized Alphas.. Mine is totally stock and it came off a rack at my favorite family owned local business, and it was set up perfectly.. It still is.. I haven't had a problem with it. I am thinking of getting one or two of Rob's, [Cavalier Pickups], pickups in it. But I kinda' like the A-3 Bridge pickup... The great thing about the CV-50 is that you can replace all the parts with vintage Tele parts without changing anything else. Have fun... It is way better than what it costs, as I'm sure you must know..

Indeed it is way better. I have ordered an electro-socket, strap locks and an Oak Grigsby 3 way switch and I hope that will be it :)

Quite liked the idea of the cavalier pickups in an esquire build but there are several brilliant pickup builders here in the UK who can do anything needed (Bare Knuckle and Sonic Monkey/JKG Guitars, London).

    Here's how I modded mine:

Straplocks, locking tuners, 6-saddle bridge, mint green pickguard, new pots and switch, a gallon jug of Esquire Juice, and vintage wiring. Maybe I wasn't really looking for a CV in the first place, but didn't know it...

Both very nice. I have the same CV with the same paint chip in the same spot.

I turned mine into an Esquire as well, but with the black pickguard. Dig the way the mint looks though. Might have to peruse the Warmoth site and see if anything bites.

Thanks all. Need to set it up, tidy it up and get it played in a bit! Was sold as having a few dents caused by "shipping" but I think it's probably been clobbered a few times, no case, but other than the dents is like new.

Cheap pots? On my Squier standard its pretty nice, I'm starting to wonder if all this talk about pots caps and wireing is just hype? My squier sounds fine
