I didn’t need another Strat (I have 3 already) but I happened upon this for an extremely reasonable price (seriously….it was nearly free). It’s one of the new Indonesian made versions. Of course it’ll need a few tweaks, but it does all the Stratocaster things nicely and so far I’m digging it. Anyone know where I can find a trem with a full size block that’ll fit this thing?

yeah, callaham as said tho they are expensive if u buy the full on trem which might be a problem for you when the guitar probably cost about the same. But the block only is a reasonable option. But i just chimed in to say do NOT buy a MIM standard trem (probably the same on the newer player series that took over the standard line) because i did that and also tried 2 others including a callaham on a CV 60s and the MIM was maybe the worse sounding piece of hardware i ever tried. It's the same spacing so it fits the classic vibes, but it sounds like cr@p, full size block or not. I also bought a MIM standard strat with that same trem as stock years before and it was so dead sounding i sold it in a week. Didn't realize it was due to the trem which i later realized when i tried a MIM standard trem on my CV 60s. So i chimed in to say you've been warned ! I also tried a GFS steel block and u *may* be happy with that, as somne others have been. I felt it had a harshness in the treble but then i'm pretty picky. The stock trem even tho the block is tiny sounded pretty good with import spaced callaham saddles. The full callaham trem was best but on that guitar was a bit thin sounding. I think the block only would not be overly bright with the stock plate and saddles tho.

Hope that helps. The only absolute takeaway i would take from this tho is to stay away from the MIM standard trem. I don't care what anyone says, i compared it on the same guitar with 3 other trems and it was by far the worse sounding. Maybe some people just don't ear well enough, but if u do you'll wish you never bought it. It'll make that thing sound so dull you'll never wanna pick it up.

Thanks for the tip. I’m really looking for a bit more mass and sustain out of it, but after I do all the usual cheap guitar rehab things (level/polish/crown the frets, cut the nut properly, set up with fresh strings) I’ll have a good listen through my rig and see where I’m at. I may not need to change anything.
