Finally wrapped this one up. Took a few months for all the parts to arrive from states and have a custom neck built to my specs (thanks to Jesse Brown @ Brown Bear Guitars).

This was a project with wife. She picked out everything about it and even named it after her puppy.

Overall she’s exactly what I was hoping for. The wife and the guitar.

    Parts list:

    -AllParts Body

-Brown Bear 22 fret, ultra slim C-D & compound radius Birdseye maple neck with bone nut (and black pearloid inlays)

-Custom Lindy Fralin Blues Special Pickups

    -Callaham Bridge and Control Plate

    -Gotoh Staggered/Locking tuners

-Carparelli Controls (went away from my usual Emerson for this build, very, very happy with result)

Here’s a lesson learned for what happens when you try to use a clear pickguard that’s thicker than average with a 22 fret neck:

Also celebrated new build with a new pedal. Sometimes we deserve it.

Very cool new custom axe there. I love the pedal too. Those will sound nice together.

Dang, that is nice. Details like the open neck pup, and chrome guard make it really sing.
Its distant cousin wants to jam.

So that was the sweet spot for placement. Made the hole then realized if I had the roller the other way it would block decal.

With the staggered tuners it’s primary purpose is keeping the strings in the nut.

I admire a well stocked bar. Any cognac in there? Martell maybe?

So I ended up using a thin Chrome pickguard (in all the top pictures).

The bottom two were taken when I tried to use a thick acrylic clear guard. I put it in place, screwed it down, then found when I attached the neck (yes the pocket was very tight as well) that the gap wasn’t big enough under 22nd fret, so when I tightened it down the pickguard pried the fingerboard off.
Tried a second clear guard and still too thick. So I went with metal in the end.

I want to say there’s a bottle in the back there for a buddy that enjoys a B&B.

Mostly scotch although I never touch the stuff. Problem is people see a pile of it, assume I’m a fan and gift me more.

First world problems. Good friends and too much booze.

Love the finish on that one! Different for sure, but I'd play it anywhere, unless I was intimidated by it's beauty. Fantastic job!

Nice! I approve of all your choices apart from the 22 fret neck. Bummer about the pickguard wedging the fingerboard off.
