Got one of these used, for next to nothin': http://squierwiki.com/Std-Black-and-Chrome-Standard-Telecaster At least, that's what I think it is--mine has a white pickguard (that looks like it had to be whittled down a bit to fit around the control plate) and skirted Fender amp knobs. Plays and sounds great. Nice sounding pickups, and very lively and resonant. I love the black headstock, and I think a black pickguard might be a nice touch; maybe some darker tinting of the rosewood board to look like ebony (leather dye?) and faux white binding with automotive pinstriping. I totally wasn't in the market for another guitar, but couldn't pass it up, especially for under $150; I mean, come on.
