NGD! Big Apple Strat Hardtail

1997 American Standard Hardtail Big Apple Strat.
HH configuration with a ‘59 in the neck and a Pearly Gates Plus in the bridge.
Saw it a few weeks back and couldn’t stop thinking about it.
It was still at the shop today so I picked it up.
No case with it, but for $725 I’m not complaining. I have cases.
I actually had one with a Trem in Sunset Orange over ash years ago but let it go in a gear purge.
Happy to have another.

I feel like I’ll hang onto a Hardtail.

Very nice. I have a 97 Lone Star. After all these years, I have concluded that the Big Apple was probably the better model, but they seem rarer. Especially here in Texas...

I remember being tempted when these came out. These do have a 5 way switch, right? Its been a long time but if I'm remembering right, I recall being pleasantly surprised by the in-between sounds.

Cool! I almost bought one just like that new in 99 but bought my Clapton Strat instead. Always thought about getting one though. Not a HB guy really so probably good I didn't. But still........ an intriguing guitar.

A friend and previous bandmate has one I have played a few times in trans orange.

That is the humbucker (Duncan 59' and Pearly Gates) setup to have in my opinion, just glorious and in a Strat.

Position two can get very close to middle position on a Tele or 2/4 on a Strat.

Seriously tho, I feel like current “Corona California” offerings are crap - not to mention a QC nightmare. I’d take anything pre 2016 over anything new. You got a beautiful well created guitar at a killer price! You couldn’t even buy a “player” (lipstick on a pig strat) for that price.
