I had a nice avri 50s hot rod strat that I traded for a Baja (+ cash). The strat was beautiful, but the neck was too thin for me to play it comfortably.

Here is my new Baja, it’s awesome! Love the pups and the 4 way switch can get me some convincing out of phase strat sounds

I'm going to put the original, black pickguard on, but the tortoise shell pg is pretty cool. Kind of gives it that Prince tele vibe

Beautiful! Baja Teles rule. I love that tort guard on there, myself. Definitely a cool Prince vibe. Black is great too, of course - but it really looks great as-is!

    Play it in good health!

They are outstanding instruments, I didn't like the S-1 and replaced it with a standard 4 way switch, but great guitar either way.

Sweet! HNGD. The Bajas are one of the best Tele values around, IMO.

The more I look at those pictures the more I'm liking the tort guard.

    .

    Tort goes well on black...

So get your black pickguard on this new Baja ... and then search around for a black Tele to put your extra Tort pickguard on so it is no longer extra! ;)

How do you like the neck?

I just bought a Classic Player Baja neck for a partscaster project.

Not assembled yet, but the neck seems well built.

The soft V feels nice, the finish is nice too and the fretwork is very acceptable.

I think the black pickguard looks better, but the tortoise shell really wasn't that bad.

Congrats on a great tele and now also great looking! With the black 'guard she is just perfect (although the tort was cool indeed!).

Enjoy it in very good health.

I really dig the neck on the Baja. It feels much more comfortable to me.

I thought the Baja's neck felt "thicker" than my Strat. But going back and looking at the specs, the Strat I traded had a D shape, and the Baja has a soft V - so I think the Strat's neck was actually fatter?

But that's neither here nor there, I have a guitar that is more comfortable to my hands!
