Well, I finally got one... This pristine 2003 American Vintage Reissue '52 is now mine. I've wanted one of these for a long time but every time a used one came around I never quite bonded with it. This thing is really resonant and lively. It also had a fret level and dressing by a really good local tech, so it plays perfectly up and down the neck. I set her up to my preferences, and there is nary a buzz or choke out anywhere.

She came with a set of Texas Specials installed and the Original Vintage pickups in the case, as well as all the case candy. I'm getting rid of the TS pups (not really my flavor), and I actually installed a set of Fender CS Nocaster pickups, though I may just put the stock OV's back in. I love the Nocaster bridge, and the neck is decent, but I really don't like RWRP pickups. You lose too much of the tone along with the hum IMO. The only other thing I really modded was the pickguard... I wet sanded it with 600 grit sandpaper to knock off the shine and make it look a little more authentic. All in all I am really happy with this thing, I think I found my new main geetar!

Congratualtions, man. A few years ago, the first time I went into a GC, there was a beautiful '52 hot Rod on the floor going for $1000 even. I should have bought it right there. I still haven't found one at that price, but my Hot Rod GAS is long gone. I would really like a classic AVRI 52, now. I like the stock pups on these, just fine. And the neck and finish are so sweet. I like the simple grain pattern on your model!

Thanks guys! I too like the "plain jane grain" look on this, it's classy. I think I am gonna put the OV's back in. Oh, I forgot to mention earlier... In addition to making the pickguard look dull, I put on some Glendale grip-o-matics to make it look more "right..." I love those knobs!

I love the OV pickups in my 2003 AV52ri. Wish mine still looked as pretty as yours.

Congratulations! Looks like Leo`s original idea. It happens me too at last purchased a Tele in this class last week, that Old Growth Redwood one, it`s very resonant too.

Thanks everyone. I absolutely love this guitar, I wish I would have gotten one of these a long time ago. And believe me, she didn't look this clean when I got her... I literally tore everything off of it and scrubbed the crap out of her using Fender finish restorer (polishing compound)! I also had to use Gibson metal cleaner on all of the chrome parts, but now it looks close to brand new. :)

Lol it had all these black dings on the bottom, but it was just paint from other things that the guitar has been whacked against. Those marks came right off with the compound. They didn't add character to it imo, they were just like trophies of the previous owners carelessness lol

    Thanks everyone!

It actually looked like it was... At least I had a brand new one laying around! I don't know how, but the case was in perfect shape... I guess he used something else to lug it around in.
