Got myself today a new toy. Had 0,5 hrs test ride in our bandroom, seems adequate enough. Will join AV 59 SGM in the Strat dept. And of course Squier mini in pink.

I think I have a sweet spot for pink guitars. Had a MIJ Pink Paisley Tele and LE SHP Baja. Too bad they’re long gone :( But you gotta sell some gear every now and then to get new ones in, right?!?

    Some photos:

Let’s hope this’ll keep me busy and going straight/sane for at least fortnight.

    Oh my that's nice.

My biggest pet peeve about my 2001 '62 AVRI was that the case is branded Fender and not G and G...probably the same case, but you know.

Fender's various shades of pink and shell are awesome. Very nice guitar, hope you enjoy for a long time. I'm green with envy, that's Sherwood Green with envy.

An update. Did full setup (had huge neck relief and action), so couple of pics and feelings.

    044123B8-E510-4B3D-8144-A740F16E8C05.jpeg DAA17591-8803-43CD-BE7F-FCA0E7E927B6.jpeg AFD1F4D6-0CE1-4A95-9B90-FEB47B5EE8FD.jpeg

I did A/B with AV 59. 59 has nicer feeling in the neck, the fretboard edges are more rolled. Not that 60s neck is bad, not at all. Nice thing about 60s is having clearly visible dots on the side of fretboard. 59 has clay dots, and I can’t see a s**t in dim lightning  I always prefer 59 7.25” radius over 60s 9.5”, but I can live with 9,5” very well. It’s just a mental thing, I go for 7,25” whenever possible or reasonable.

Soundwise they were, well, both very stratlike and good. I’m terrible in describing tonal differences, especially when we talk about guitars. They should have same strings, same pickup height etc to really compare them. But 60s was definitely louder. Didn’t measure pickups outputs, OTOH 60s pickups were set tad higher than 59. They both have Pure Vintage pickups, 60s has 65 and 59 has 59, both with staggered poles and alnico V.

Hardware, I deck my Strat tremolos always, so both are good that way. The saddles are better in 59 that in 60s, the height screws are much longer in 60s, and liking low action, it’s probably Highwoods for 60s. Tuners are great.

So, both are great guitars. 59 is more vintage accurate with 7,25” radius and thinskin nitro (no poly underneath), but that 60s is so sexy in all it’s pinkness.

Which one should I transform eventually to GH Rocky? Opinions?
