I posted one half of my new haul in a NAD post last night, and now it’s time for the guitar half. Traded in a few guitars and an amp for a Marshall 1974x and…an AO 50s telecaster. It’s a good one! Sounds amazing through my 5e3 and the 18w- love the fat neck and the pickups. Plenty of snap and jangle with cool vintage looks to boot.

I believe they started tinting the necks a bit in 2020, which I greatly appreciate. The pure vintage pickups actually sound about as good as the 51 nocasters I had in my old partscaster, IMO.

This is actually the second one I’ve had- the first one I bought in early March 2020, and immediately returned due to not really knowing what the pandemic was going to do. It had a neck that was definitely tinted, as the sides of the bone nut had some yellow on them. Glad I’ve got one back here with me.

    My stable is now currently:

    - AO 50s tele
    - 2020 es-335 satin
    - homebrew 5e3
    - Marshall 1974x
    - Martin d-18

think I’ve finally cured my gas…only took 20 years.

    Big congrats!

It seems you have a very nice guitar family too, a tele, a 335 and a D18 is just as classic as it can be, I'd like to see a pic of your stable!

That looks like just about everything you would ever need, or at least what I would need.
Can't see the GAS stopping though.

Next GAS will be pedals, studio equipment, guitar stands, guitar stools...

So nice! Welcome to the AO club!

The difference in tint could even be attributed to how heavy someone in the paint booth applied it that day - or even the batch of finish being used. I know my AO60's Tele neck is tinted but my AO60's Strat is way lighter. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Best of luck with yours. I love mine, pictured in my avatar from early 2018. I use it with a '68 Ampeg Reverbojet J-12R. I'm buying a Tone King Gremlin as soon as they're back in stock. I have a gold top LP and a Casino. They manage to keep me busy!
