How did you get a 97' American Special? As far as I know, the Am Spl wasnt introduced until 2010.
Am I missing something, or just plain wrong?

Oops! I was thinking of another guitar. My Am Special is a 2005.

I swapped out the pickups in my AM Special for Lollar Special T's. To be honest, for such an incremental difference, I wish I hadn't bothered. The standard neck pickup in your guitar is just great sounding. Sometime you might find yourself wanting a more twangy bridge, but that's only if you're playing certain styles of music.

Great guitars, enjoy it as it is, but if you really have to change anything then a cheap set of compensated brass saddles by Callahan or other is pretty much all you need do.

Congrats. I picked up a NOS 2015 American Special recently and just love it. Great guitars. Enjoy!

Thanks! I think that mine is also 2015 model, because the last owner, had bought it new, in last september or october.

Now it became even better for me. I filed the nut and restrung, with 10-52 set. Those are my choice for Teles.

So I played and I played... Tried so many heights for the Texas Specials, but those PU:s just didn't match my playing.

I changed the bridge PU for CS Broadcaster and the neck PU for some old Am Std. Pickup.

And now this baby sounds like a Telecaster should!!

(Changed the knobs for the flattops also, because the headstock logo said so)
