Got this guitar at a really good price off Reverb plus there ain't many of these floating around in sonic gray. I bought a Vintera Modified '50s Tele, but it arrived damaged so it went back. All the MIMs I tried had sharp fretboard edges and I couldn't find a MIM Tele that played right for the amount of money they cost now so I went MIA. I'm gonna to learn to do my own setups with this Tele. Can anyone recommend a good tool set where I'd have everything I'd need?

Anyway sonic gray is a really cool finish color in my opinion. I guess they just mixed gray and sonic blue together? Or is it it's own thing? The guitar plays beautifully though it could probably use a small tweak to get the action a bit lower. So far I prefer this over the American Professional II Tele I had. Fuzz from the case keeps getting on it haha

Every time I get a guitar I always start with a cleaning/polishing of the body heck even took off the pickguard to clean under there. Pickguard might get changed back to a 3 ply parchment if I don't get along with the pearloid. (Anyone know the stock pup height in these?) After that I conditioned the fretboard which really helped it come to life. It was a little dry looking then afterwards it darkened up quite nicely. Haven't had a pale maple neck in awhile. Nice grain to boot!

Frets are basically like new and the body is basically perfect except for one ding the width of a hair. Other than that just a few light scratches you can barely see unless you tilt the guitar in the light. So it's condition is a 9/10 in my book. The seller told me it weights 6.5 pounds though I haven't weighed it myself it feels sub 7lbs for sure. Previous owner changed the stock tuners to Fender deluxe locking tuners. All in all I'm an extremely happy with this Tele!
Noice! Love the rosewood fretboard, goes well with the sonic gray. Classy combination.

Very cool! I couldn’t get on with the Vinteras. I’d put a black scratchplate on but that’s just my preference, I think Sonic Grey is a great colour.

Get the adjustments in the right ball park before you get drawn into using thousandths of an inch and theodolites.
I’ve had my first AmPro for nearly a month now and started setting up from day one. Definitely getting there. Once it’s OK I’ll start on the new one I have on order. Great guitars but I found the finish a little fragile. One slip with the crowbar when I was removing the nut really marked the neck. I used masking tape as recommended so I might go over the top next time and use two thicknesses. 1680255741834.jpeg 1680255810079.jpeg 1680255884985.jpeg 1680256212077.jpeg

This is it with the new parchment pickguard. From what I saw specs wise this is what it looked like stock as well.
