Alright, not technically an NGD - I’ve had this for about a month now but I have not been on this board in quite a few years and this is also my first new Telecaster since losing my others in a fire in 2019.

Anyhoo, I’ve always loved the look of 70s telecaster customs, particularly the blondes but the originals in that finish are rare and quite hard to come by so when I saw Fender had finally reproduced one in blonde I had to have it.

Very pleased overall. My playing style calls for more modern features so I appreciate the 9.5” radius and the vintage tall frets. The cunife is fine - It’s best when used with the bridge as it really shines in just beefing up the bridge pickup and sounds great with some slight breakup.

The finish is nice, Fender is always all over the place with their blonde finish and that’s no different here - I’m not really sure what blonde shade they were trying to recreate and make “vintage”but my best guess is it’s more of an aged white blonde. Perhaps someone who knows more than me could shed some light on that but either way, definitely a solid instrument!

Pretty sure they made a vintage blonde. I always thought these were cool just not a fan of the bullet style truss rod. More of a looks thing not sure how well they work. Everyone likes different things though right? Definitely nice with that black pickguard along with the nice grain. Sorry about you losing your other Teles.

oh for sure, I was mostly just commenting that the finish is a bit different than most fender models that have the “vintage blonde” finish. They tend to be more butterscotch whereas this one can in some lights almost looks like translucent desert sand (for reference to the closest fender color I can think of). And yeah, love the grain on this one. Had the option to get a different one for less money but the grain on this one was doing it for me.

Ah sorry I misunderstood what you meant by what finish it was. How a guitar plays is most important however I like my guitars to look as good as they play. Grain is definitely one of those things I'm picky about. You definitely got a looker there.

I agree with you on the playability front but I also can be very picky about grain, especially on blonde finishes. Too much grain? Not a fan. Too little? Also not a fan. There is a sweet spot that I enjoy. I also realize this probably seems crazy to someone like my girlfriend who doesn’t play guitar and thinks they all look the same 😆.
