Oh my, oh my... I'm poor now.
After finally buying my dream american original 60s tele about a month ago, I truly wanted to finish my tele set by adding the 50s variant of this model. I actually managed to find one new with a small discount about 110 kilometres from my house! It wasn't as hard to find as the AO60 though 😅
At first I was worried due to alot of comments about a truly fat neck but when I held it, it felt just fine. I know they can vary quite a bit but mine is only like 1,5 mm thicker than my AO60s neck at both the 1st and 12th fret.
I actually saw a used CS 52 nos white blonde tele that I could have easily bought with the money for these 2 but... now I have both a double bound 60s tele and 50s tele with laquer, 9.5 radius and near CS level build quality according to the forums. So I'm not too worried.
On my 60s I had some more issues, installed a 4-way and compensated brass saddles. The 50s will stay as is!
Also funny how my 60s has a noticeably more tinted neck than the 50s, which you can tell on some pictures..?

You’re all set—they look great. Congratulations!
Yeah, honestly I've seen nicer rosewood boards and prettier ash wood grains, but these guitars are great nonetheless and just hard to find now... Not really possible to seek one out that you like the best.

Really hope these are capable of being life-long companions!

Looks good, enjoy!

The amount of tint on the AO’60s necks seemed to vary - my first 2020-built Tele is tinted more than my 2018-built Jazzmaster. If I could have changed one thing it would be to have less tint — my favourite-looking neck is the very pale maple on my Elite Tele. But none of that makes it play any worse, and that’s what really counts.

Looks good - plenty of playing needed now
I'm on it! This is where I stop buying guitars and I mean it. I can see myself swapping, but not adding guitars. Next big investment would be a great amp. I currently use the boss katana artist mk2 which is great for it's multipurpose ability but I definitly want something with more 'soul' one day if it makes any sense.

Personally I prefer it tinted, especially when it comes to butterscotch blonde, so I hoped the 50s would be like my 60s.
I briefly owned an american vintage II 1951 tele and the neck is nearly identical in color to the body which I like.
Not sure why my 60s is more tinted, as the spec sheet claims untinted maple neck on both... My 50s was built April 2022, the 60s July 2022.
Hard to tell on photo but the 60s is really inbetween the ultra and 50s tint-wise.

Play them and enjoy them.

What music do you play on them? What are the big differences that you notice between their personalities?

You're like me and on a roll! Congrats! I wanted an AO 50s Tele, but I'm not a fan of BSB. That's what pushed me towards the 70th Anniversary Boradcaster. The blackguard blonde is much softer on the eyes for me. Every so often I get an itch for one of these AO 50s Teles though....again congrats!

Do you have a photo of your broadcaster?

I prefered my avII 1951 tele I had before in terms of looks/tints, but this just plays nicer because of the flatter radius for me personally. Like I said in my original post there's a used CS '52 tele in white blonde in my area which I much prefer over this butterscotch blonde as well.
And it isn't THAT much more expensive so I'm worried a little that I took the wrong decision there but ah well.
The AO series gets called the "smart mans custom shop guitars" so maybe it's fine and you can't have it all right?
Now if fender ever releases an AVII 60s strat in burgundy mist my strat ultra will fly out the door within 24 hours. I've come to really fall in love with these vintage models even though I 100% feel like the proII/ultra models play much easier. but, I already know I'll get something like an AO50/60 or AVII 50/60 strat instead of my ultra...

I'll also quickly add a pic of the used white blonde '52 CS. (keep in mind it was either these 2 or that 1 cs)

I use them for anything from Elvis Presley to Ed Sheeran, Eric Clapton to modern pop or my own songs even...
I'm primarily an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist so most often they're used like this:
I play my fingerstyle arrangements on my acoustics and near the end I record a chord progression with my looper, then swap to my electrics and improvise a bit to then close the song. They're really a secondary instrument to me and are only there to add more variety to my sound, learn new techniques, ...
Because of that I never went all in because else I would've bought a CS white blonde tele and a CS burgundy mist 60s strat. If you really want to know how I use them, check out Joe Robinson! (He uses a white blonde tele and burgundy mist strat, that's partially why I adore them so much)!
Really, I should only use fender players for my usage :')

That said, they're quite different. Both are teles so they feel quite similar (60s slightly edgier due to binding) but obviously the 50s has a fatter neck and maple gives a different feeling compared to the 60s rosewood board. None are that heavy in my opinion and my 50s does seems particulary light! As for sound, I must say that I did install brass saddles on the 60s, which makes it more mellow so it's not the most honest comparison.
That said: They both sound great, pure and warm but the 50s is brighter and snappier FOR SURE. The 60s is still bright enough if you want to, but alot more mellow in general. I like this difference actually, feels more justified to own one of each.
What I like most is how they lift each other up as in... I played my 60s, then my 50s and think: this one is even better! Then I go back to the 60s and think: oh no wow, THIS one is actually better! And so on. Really glad with them.

If I had to pick one it'd be the 60s. Rarer and sounds more like my preferences.

This was my thread when I got the guitar:

I don't have it on me right now as it's getting work done. The fret ends got sharp, but not on any of my other guitars so they need to be taken down a bit.

I really like that guitar. Almost inbetween my BSB and white blonde. I know you have the AO60 in BMM too and now this..? Something tells me you have an AMAZING collection! ;)
